2 years ago today we left Vermont on our \u2018unplanned planned\u2019 trip. We had a vague idea of where we wanted to go, but no clear path. We only knew that we wanted to experience something different, perhaps learn something about ourselves, and meet new people. 2 years later, I think we have accomplished all 3. At times it has been a wild ride that has tested our will to continue, others we wondered how we could ever leave the road and go back to life at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, our trip is coming to a quick end and home is where we are headed. What that means and where the next adventure lays is a mystery, especially given the way the world is spinning a bit sideways right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the highlights…driving to Tuktoyaktuk and dipping our toes in the Arctic Ocean. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Christmas dinner in Baja’s Agua Verde with Esmeralda and her family.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Feeling humbled as we wandered among the redwoods in The Grove of the Titans.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Climbing Teotihuacan’s Temple of the Moon.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Denali…a once in a lifetime view.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Wandering in San Miguel Allende with Joyce, a good friend from Vermont, who made us feel welcome in Mexico.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
We have seen amazing places, like Devil’s Tower, <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
but it always comes back to the amazing people we have met along the way.

Dennis and Virginia in Wallowa, Oregon.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Jens and Susana who we spent time with in Oregon and Mexico!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Bob Roumph, whom we affectionately call Biker Bob, in Ponca, Nebraska. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Jono, Sunny, Karen and Ron on the Oregon coast.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Michelle, aka Iron Belly, our Irish biker\/Spanish interpreter\/fellow foodie\/wanderer in San Crist\u00f3bal. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Our new crazy friends from Holland, Katja and Hans.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
And don’t forget our good friends, the sea lions!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
While we have seen amazing things and met wonderful people, the end of our trip means conversations over the fence with our neighbors Chris and Steve, who are helping get things ready for our return.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The return of ‘Friday night Dinners’ with our good friend Bill, who mowed our fields and acted as a home base for us while on the road.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

And camping trips with Mike and the boys, that have been missed and scheduled for ‘As Soon as Darrin Gets Home!’<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
