Black Hills Storm

Storms in the Black Hills can be quite intense. With all the flat prairie land to the west and south, the storms can build up some steam to run into the hills. The outcome is amazing storms that are intense and fast moving. Last night a storm skirted around us, just barely skimming our nicely sheltered camping spot and allowing for some great pictures.

Coming…
Building…
Holy crap! Time to get under shelter.
A little hale mixed in for good measure!
And gone!

    1. It approached really slowly across the prairie and then moved quickly through the mountains. It was pretty cool.

  1. I can’t wait for the movie!

On a separate note, is it ok to pass this on to others at Thermal? I have sent a few but don’t want to get to far ahead without asking if it’s ok.

Is there any way to send you guys care packages?

    1. Fine with us on passing on the site. Care packages would be great, but difficult to coordinate. If we we find a place where we are going to be for a while we’ll let you know.

  2. Hi. We met you in Ponca St park. I walked back to your camp site to give you some spots to see in Ne. but you where gone, sorry I missed you.

    1. Hi Jim and Elaine, Sorry we missed you! We enjoyed talking with you. We decided to head out before the holiday rush. Are you still at Ponca? What a nice spot!

      1. no we left on May 29th. We will be headed to Calamus Lake on June 24 and stay until July 22nd. Safe travels and looking forward to reading your blog.

  3. Hi Jim here, if you stay in New Castle for one more month, Aug 1st you will see thousands of M/Cycles for Sturges SD rally. Have fun in Devils Tower. My best friend has his dude reach not far from there. New Haven. Bye for now. 100 degrees today.

    1. I am happy to say we are back in the Black Hills and it is 65 today! We can’t wait to see Devil’s Tower. A dude ranch? That sounds really cool.
